Curnon

Info

There was a chapter in my creative practice where ideas became things you could hold, wear and keep. At Curnon, that meant stepping beyond visual design and into the objects themselves — researching, conceptualizing and designing products from the ground up. This selection brings together two of them: Aurora, a women’s watch collection, and YOU, a charm collection designed around self-expression. Different briefs and different forms, but both began with the same question: how can an idea become something worth experiencing?

Aurora started with a wonderfully open brief: create a new women’s watch line. With little prescribed beyond that, I began by looking at the women we were designing for—what they were wearing, what was changing in the category, and where there might be room for something different. That research eventually led to Aurora, a collection inspired by the Roman goddess of dawn. The idea of first light became a thread through the design, from a sunray dial that shifts with its surroundings to an elongated superellipse case that feels familiar, but a little less expected. A finely woven mesh strap brought the final touch of delicacy. What began as an open-ended exploration made it all the way from sketch to wrist. Aurora went into production and became one of Curnon’s best-selling collections, with around 1,000 pieces sold.

The brief was to create a charm collection. But rather than designing a set of finished pieces, I became interested in what makes charms special in the first place: their ability to mean something different to everyone who wears them. That became the idea behind YOU — a collection designed less as a single piece of jewelry and more as a personal vocabulary. Letters, numbers, symbols and colourful stones could be mixed and matched to hold a name, a date, a memory, or simply something that feels like you. The individual charms were intentionally kept simple, leaving the meaning to come from how each person put them together. YOU went on to become a commercial hit, with more than 100,000 pieces sold on Shopee.
